A reference guide for the author about: scale modeling, model painting, history, war gaming, model inventory & project progress. Primary focus of modeling is WWII Armour & Infantry on the eastern front, with detail focus on the battle of Kursk
Comments: I bought this kit for my Father-In -Law for his birthday with the intent to build a diorama for his Mining Club's County Fair Booth. This was a full Homer gift (Ref.) with me building & painting the figure. The final diorama went over big with everyone, and I learned a great deal about figure painting & diorama building. I still have a lot of work to do on diorama for the 2013 County Fair, including adding water effects & a Plexiglas cover.
Progress: Several figures completed and added to diorama. Primed in white with Tamiya & Rust-Oleum Primer for comparison reasons. Tamiya is far better primer, will never use Rust-Oleum on detail figures again
Comments: Back in the late 90's I started looking at models again for the 1st time since I was 13. My first tank in this Renaissance was a 1/72 Tiger I. After building and painting that, I saw that the Hobby Store had moved, and I stopped in to see what they had. I was blown away with all the cool tank models they had. Tons of tanks I had never seen before. Although I was seriously tempted by some WWI tanks, I went for this 1/35 German Panzer because I thought it looked so cool. I still like the look of this tank design. The model is about 70% completed. I painted it by hand with Tamiya paint and I was so disappointed with look of the paint job that I didn't complete it. I thought I can't waste my time on these models unless the paint looks realistic, and I thought I would have to pick up a airbrush to do the model justice. Well now I understand that hand painting Tamiya paint was probably a impossible task. I think if I would of had Vallejo paints back then, I would of kept the up with the hobby instead of waiting over a decade to take it up again. Well there is still hope for this model with a little sanding and a repaint. The model is at a perfect point in the construction to pull off a repaint. I hope to make a decent diorama with this and some of the other 1/35 models I have in order to make a good early war scene in France or Russia
It may seem crazy for me to spend time tracking all my paints, but after buying multiple colors & searching for colors that I thought I purchased but was not sure. Documenting all my paints seems worth while time wise.

It's final time to put on some decals on my Zvezda flak 36/37. I bought a while ago Vallejo's "Decal Medium" & "Decal Fix" and now it's time to give it a try.
After reading tutorials again, I went for it. I cut out the #2 option of stripes on barrel with a sharp, but well used xacto blade by hand (not like recommended in vallejo tutorial) and it seemed to work more than adequate. The decal went on easily and looked nice, although there is a small gap were the stripes do not meet up exactly, but it is on bottom and does not bother me.
Well, I messed up because I followed the Vallejo tutorial which is incorrect. I put the "Decal Medium" on then applied the Decal. After reading the tutorial again I noticed mistake in tutorial and applied the "Decal Medium" onto the Decal.
So, THE CORRECT ORDER OF APPLICATION IS: 1) apply "Decal Fix". 2) apply Decal & remove exess water. 3) after decal is dry apply "Decal Medium" amd let dry for couple of hours.

I had this set as a kid. The best part about it was waiting for it. When it came it was a disappointed when it showed. They where made of super hard plastic, about 1/24th scale, and flat almost 2 dimensional. If you stepped on one of these figures, it would cut you bad. I would love to have them now. This Youtube Clip clip of the era says it all
I ordered this set as a kid. I was very happy with it when it arrived. It was around 1/72nd blue and red figures. Who said there was no dreams filled by these offers.
Never ordered this one, but I bet it was a good one.
Really blew it never sending in for this set.
This is before my time, But I would of been all over it. If my parents only new, or maybe they did?
Always wanted this one
I remember this lurking around the house, I'm sure my parents thought my brother could grow up to be a chemist
Another model my brother had. I forgot about it until he mentioned it the other day
